Almost a week after Kodangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy announced his resignation as TDP-TS working president and legislature party leader as well as membership of the Legislative Assembly, his resignation letter is yet to reach the Assembly Speaker.

Legislature Secretariat sources said the Assembly was yet to receive any communication in this regard to date. In the normal course, the Speaker would invite the member who opted to resign with one and a half years of his tenure remaining to ascertain whether the decision was taken on emotional or other grounds before taking a final call. “How can a decision on whether or not to accept the resignation taken when the Speaker is yet to receive any communication in this regard,” an official of the Legislature Secretariat said.

According to sources, the Kodangal MLA had drafted his single line resignation letter in the prescribed “Speaker’s format”, but had handed it over to TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, throwing the ball into the latter’s court. The letter was submitted on October 28, when Mr. Revanth Reddy announced his decision to formally sever ties with the TDP-TS in Vijayawada. Sources close to Mr. Revanth Reddy said the former TDP-TS working president had followed the protocol in handing over his resignation letter. “ It is for the TDP president to forward it to the Speaker” was how a leader close to Mr. Revanth Reddy said.
