SI placed under suspension

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Warangal Range B. Malla Reddy has issued order placing under suspension Wardhannapet Sub-Inspector Y. Krishna Kumar for allegedly detaining a minor boy overnight and chaining him at the police station.

The action was taken following the directions of DGP Anurag Sharma on Monday. The

DGP also ordered for a probe into the incident.

It might be recalled that a ten-year-old tribal student of Ammapuram village of Thorrur mandal studying in Class V was allegedly detained overnight at Wardhannapet police station. He was accused of trying to commit theft at a fancy store on Saturday.

The boy staying at the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Hostel was taken to the police station on Saturday and let off on Sunday morning.

In the due course, he was said to be chained to a log at the police station.
