SCCL achieves record growth

52.2 lakh tonnes coal transported

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has achieved a record growth of 6.7 % in coal despatches during May compared with its last year’s performance for the same month.

It transported 52.2 lakh tonnes coal against 49.2 lakh tonnes in May 2016. In addition, the company registered highest ever figures in coal production. A growth of 2.85 % in the 50.5 lakh tonnes coal produced in May 2017, against 49.1 lakh tonnes last year.

Similarly, it also achieved an all-time record of 21.57 % growth in overburden (waste earth material) removal. It removed 333 lakh cubic metre for the month of May compared with 274 lakh cubic metres in 2016.

As per the management guidelines, the company arranged all coal requirements of the thermal power plants during summer, a time when power generation is at its peak.

N. Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director, SCCL appreciated the staff for their efforts and asked them to continue the same to achieve the goal set for 2017-18. The unit two of Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP), Jaipur has achieved a 100 % Plant Load Factor (PLF) for the month of May, a repeat of its February achievement.

The Plant’s unit-two produced 448.54 million units of power and exported 419.01 million units.
