TDP MLA A. Revanth Reddy, who was lodged in prison in cash-for-vote case 10 days ago, got temporary relief when a local court here on Wednesday granted him interim bail for one day facilitating his attendance at his daughter’s engagement on Thursday.
The Special Court for ACB and SPE, Laxmipati, however, dismissed main bail petition for Mr. Reddy and two other accused, Harry Sebastian and Rudra Vijay Simha. The MLA would be set free from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. An escort team from prisons would take Mr. Reddy to his house in Jubilee Hills where his daughter’s engagement would be held.
He would be brought back to prison by 6 p.m. The court directed the MLA’s counsel to furnish two sureties, each of Rs. 50,000, in the court. Earlier, the special court judge heard the arguments of the counsel for Mr. Reddy, Sidharth Lothra, who contended that the latter should be given bail keeping in view his daughter’s engagement to be held on Thursday.

The ACB special public prosecutor stated that he had no objection if the MLA was given one-day interim bail but contended that Mr. Reddy would try to influence the witnesses if he was given regular bail.
Maoists on Thursday demanded that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu be sent to prison for his “involvement in cash-for-vote case” and dethrone KCR’s government for “buying 25 MLAs with baits” to continue his rule. In a statement, CPI (Maoists) Telangana State Committee official representative Jagan said both Mr. Naidu and Mr. KCR were fighting for share in the ‘mamools’ from the rich and big corporate companies.

Both were fighting to take control of revenue being generated in the two States, he said.
