Ramzan festival came as an event with special significance to government functionaries and political leaders who made a beeline to the local Idgah on Tuesday to greet Muslims coming out after the special prayers.
Among those who were present at the Idgah as the prayers came to a close were Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and Adilabad District Congress Committee president C. Ramchander Reddy.
Also present to embrace the devout coming out of the Idgah were the defeated MLA candidates in the last election to Adilabad Assembly constituency. Congress candidate Bhargav Deshpande, BJP candidate Payal Shankar and YSR Congress candidate Anil were seen greeting the Muslim community from under tents erected specially for the purpose.

Meanwhile, Muslims across the district offered prayers at respective Idgahs and mosques. They came out wearing new clothes and visited friends and relatives.
Karimnagar Staff Reporter writes: Id-ul-Fitr which is also called festival of charity, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Karimnagar district on Tuesday.
Muslims offered special Ramzan prayers at Idgah on the outskirts of the town. Later, they greeted each other. Local legislator Gangula Kamalakar and Mayor S Ravinder Singh, municipal corporators and others visited the Idgah and greeted the Muslims. All the mosques were colourfully decorated with illuminations. Similarly, the municipal authorities have also beautified the traffic islands with illumination.

Some of the Muslims youth sporting ‘T’ shirts of ‘Save Gaza’ also erected the banners in the town with the slogans of “Save Gaza and save Palestine” along with Ramzan greetings.
Nizamabad Staff Reporter adds: The festival was celebrated amid pomp and religious fervour in the district. Prayers at Idgah on Quilla road and at mosques, exchange of pleasantries and extension of festival greetings by embracing each other marked the day.
After month-long fasting, scores of Muslims participated in the mass prayer on Idgah ground and listened to the sermons by the religious elders. They wore new clothes and gave away alms to the poor people after the prayers.
Local MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta and Mayor Akula Sujatha greeted them at the place of worship while the Minister Srinivas Reddy and Collector D. Venkateswar Rao extended their greetings through statements in media.
Muslims organised community lunches at their homes by inviting friends and relatives. Thus, the town and other towns such as Bodhan, Kamareddy, Armoor and Banswada wore a festive look.
Warangal Special Correspondent adds: Muslims in their attire best thronged the places of worships and were seen greeting each other on the occasion of Ramzan. The day marks the end of month-long penance and prayers by the Muslim community. Leaders of various political parties joined them in offering special prayers. Prayers were held at edgahs at Fort Warangal, Bokkalagadda, Peddammagadda, Pothana Nagar, Kazipet, Chote Masjid at Subedari and other places. Warangal (West) MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker has attended the prayers at Bokkalagadda Edgah. Collector G Kishan, Urban and Rural Superintendents of Police A Venkateshwara Rao and LKV Ranga Rao , Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former mayor of Warangal Errabelli Swarna and others greeted the community on the occasion.
