Red Cross begins campaign for construction of soak pits

The members of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), led by the society chairman, Dr. Neeli Ramchander, launched a campaign to enlighten people on the significance of digging and constructing soak pits at each household, here on Sunday.

Recharge ground water

Participating in the soak pit digging programme at the IRCS office, Dr. Ramchander said that the pits would help recharge ground water and improve greenery. It would help harness rainwater effectively, he said, and appealed to the people to build soak pits everywhere. IRCS secretary Bussa Anjaneyulu, State executive member Tota Rajashekar, and permanent member Bobbili Chinna Reddy, among others, participated in the programme.
