Ramagundam divisions register 94% polling

Campaigning continued on polling day too

A brisk polling was witnessed at the Singareni Collieries Company limited (SCCL) in Godavarikhani coal belt region in Peddapalli district on Thursday, as the coal miners geared up to elect a recognised trade union.

Since morning, the coal miners have formed serpentine queues to cast their vote in various polling stations in the Ramagundam coal belt region at three divisions viz. Ramagundam-1, RG-2 and RG-3. The Ramagundam regions recorded 94 per cent polling.

Against a total of 6878 voters in Ramagundam-1 division, a total of 6476 votes were polled (94.18), out of 4222 voters in RG-2 division, votes polled were 4000 (94.76) and of 5378 total votes in Ramagundam-3 division, votes polled were 5004 (93.24).

The campaigning continued even on the polling day on Thursday with the TGBKS leaders wearing the trade union symbol ‘arrow’ T-shirts and seen luring the voters.

The counting of votes would begin from 7 and the results were likely to be declared by midnight. The police had made unprecedented security arrangements by deploying additional police forces to avoid any untoward incident.
