Crest gates were opened at Kumram Bheem project to release over 20,000 cusecs of water and consequently, the Peddavagu stream is in spate.

The level of water in the huge reservoir of the major irrigation project, Kadem, is rising significantly and it is pegged at 690 ft. The inflows recorded here is 8,000 cusecs as there was heavy rainfall in the catchment area during the last two days.

The rainfall recorded so far in the season is almost double the normal for the period starting June 1. Against a normal of about 14 cm., the rainfall recorded was about 28 cm with only 6 of the 52 mandals receiving rains in deficit.
