‘Candidate should use account ony for election transactions during the period’

The Telangana State Election Commission has allowed the contestants of the forthcoming elections to gram panchayats to use their existing bank accounts for election expenditure.

The contesting candidates should communicate the account number to the returning officers concerned at the time of filing of nominations. The candidates should give an undertaking that the account would exclusively be used for election expenditure and not for any other purpose from the date of filing of nomination till the completion of elections.

The decision was taken by State Election Commissioner V. Nagi Reddy in partial modification of the existing rule that the contestants should open a separate account for election expenditure purpose.

Contesting candidates could clarify their doubts or lodge complaints with the grievance cell between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. every day. They could contact the number 040-29802895 for registering their complaints and all such grievances would be immediately forwarded to the officials concerned for redressal.
