Policemen being deployed to control situation at Utnoor.

Tension prevailed at Utnoor town in Adilabad district on Sunday after a mob set roadside property on fire. The mob also indulged in pelting stones, causing minor injuries to Adilabad SP M. Sreenivas, OSD T. Panasa Reddy, Adilabad DSP A. Laxminarayana and a constable.

Trouble started the previous night when a group of persons from one community torched some roadside property near the old bus stand. They were protesting the delay in the arrest of accused in a case related to an audio clip that was circulated on an instant messaging platform.

As mobs from different communities gathered in the morning on the road leading to the police station, they were dispersed by lobbing tear gas shells. However, the mob belonging to one community persisted with the stone pelting.
