Thanks to the respite in rainfall, the 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with customary gusto in all the four districts constituting old united Adilabad, on Thursday. At Nirmal district headquarter town Forest Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy unfurled the National flag as chief guest, while the Zilla Parishad chairpersons of Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial performed the duty at respective official celebrations.
The theme of many items staged by students during cultural performances show cased as part of the celebrations was, notably, patriotism.

He was addressing a gathering after unfurling the tricolour national flag at the police parade ground here on Thursday.
Celebrations were also held at Telangana University and all public and private offices and offices of the political parties across the district.
Earlier, he received the march-past presented by armed reserve police. ZP Chairman D. Vittal Rao, MLCs and MLAs, Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao, DIG of Police N. Sivasankar Reddy, Commissioner of Police Kartikeya and judicial officers were present.

Colourful dance programmes by schoolchildren, patriotic songs and parades by the police and students marked the day across the six districts of erstwhile Warangal on Thursday.
The national flag was hoisted at all offices, schools and private institutions.
Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao was the chief guest at the function held at the Warangal urban district at Police Parade grounds here in Hanamkonda.
District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil, city police commissioner V Ravinder, MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar and N Narender and others were present. Zilla Parishad chairpersons – J Sriharshini (Bhupalpally district), Angothu Bindhu (Mahabubabad) and P Sampath Reddy (Janagama district) unfurled the national flags in their respective districts.
Heads of various government departments unfurled the national flag and recalled the contributions of the freedom fighters at their respective offices across the districts.
At National Institute of Technology (NIT), Director Prof N.V. Ramana Rao hoisted the national flag and at NPDCL office, its chairman A Gopal Rao unfurled the national flag.
The students and the faculty of NIT planted over 2,000 saplings on a two-acre land on the campus using the ‘Miyawaki technique’ to create a mini-forest – planting more trees in small space

Thanks to the measures taken by the State government, the institutional deliveries in 150-bedded Mother and Child health centre (MCHC) hospital in the town had increased from 300 deliveries per month to over 1,000 deliveries per month that too free of cost plus KCR kit as gift, said Minister for Health Eatala Rajender. He was speaking after unfurling the national flag at the Police Parade grounds.
The Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at the NTPC Ramagundam on Thursday.
Executive director P P Kulkarni hoisted the tricolour and the CISF unit presented guard of honour followed by inspection of parade and march-past.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Kulkarni remembered the sacrifices and contribution made by our great freedom fighters and highlighted the glorious history of NTPC and its contribution in the development of the country.
To mark the occasion, a mass tree plantation programme was taken up on the premises of the district court complex in Karimnagar.
