Parties castigate CM for his ‘Operation Blue Star’ remark

November 20, 2014 11:30 pm | Updated 11:30 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Say his comments amount to terrorising members who speak against the Government

Congress, TDP, BJP and MIM have criticised Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his remark of “Operation Blue Star” made during his statement on Rayadurg lands issue.

Congress legislators T. Jeevan Reddy and D.K. Aruna and TDP MLA S. Venkata Veeraiah alleged that the Chief Minister’s comments would amount to terrorising members who would speak against the government. They sought to know whether it was wrong to point out mistakes of the government or committing some errors in such attempts.

Speaking outside the House on Thursday, they said the Chief Minister’s remarks were unparliamentary and would curb members’ freedom of expression in the House.

Akbaruddin Owaisi of MIM felt that the government’s attitude of targeting individual members was wrong and that it could correct members who speak untruth.

‘Protect our rights’

The legislators of Congress and Telugu Desam Party met Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary during lunch break and urged him to protect their rights, as they were being denied due share of time to speak in the Assembly.
