Over two lakh children to be vaccinated by Sept. 25

Collector A. Sharath launches Rubella-measles vaccination programme in Jagtial

District Collector A. Sharath and Jagtial legislator T. Jeevan Reddy launched the administration of Rubella-measles vaccine to children at the Old High School in Jagtial town on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said they have identified a total of 2,52,770 children in the age group of nine months to 15 years in the district to be administered the vaccine and added that they would complete the task by September 25. He said the vaccine would be distributed at all schools and Anganwadi centres in the district and appealed to the people to get the vaccine administered to their children without any fear.

Mr. Jeevan Reddy said the administration of vaccine would prevent illness among children. He asked the health department officials to create awareness among the rural masses and provide vaccine to all children without fail. District Medical and Health Officer Sugandhini, District Immunisation Officer Samiyuddin and others were also present.

Meanwhile in Rajanna-Sircilla district, Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar launched the administration of vaccine at B.Y. Nagar School in Sircilla town on Thursday. He asked the authorities to educate the rural masses on the importance of vaccine and maintain a cold-chain system of the medicine. DM&HO Ramesh and others were also present.

SANGAREDDY Staff Reporter adds: Collector Manickaraj Kannan called upon people to get their children vaccinated as part of the measles and rubella vaccination programme.

Addressing a gathering after launching the programme at Saint Anthony’s School at Pothireddypally on Thursday, the Collector said all the children between the age group of nine months and 15 years should be given the vaccine to protect them from various diseases.

Medical and Health Officer M.R. Rathod and others were present.

In Medak, Collector Bharati Hollikeri launched the programme by administering the vaccine to a student. She said they would make every effort to see that all children were vaccinated by the end of the programme.

In Siddipet, the programme was launched by District Revenue Officer Chandrasekhar Reddy.
