One dies in police custody

Case registered, inquiry ordered

One person died in police custody at Zaheerabad late on Wednesday night. The police registered a custodial death case and inquiry was ordered immediately. Ramachandrapuram DSP Seetharam was appointed investigation officer.

According to sources, Jaipal Yadav (28), a native of Sanjeevarao Tanda, was picked up by the police for his alleged involvement in theft of motorcycles. Subsequently, it was reported, he developed low blood pressure and low pulse rate and was shifted to Gandhi Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Post-mortem was conducted at Gandhi Hospital under the supervision of revenue divisional officer of Zaheerabad and the body was handed over to family members. He is survived by wife and three children.

The police claimed that they had seized two motorcycles from him after arrest. As many six cases were registered against him and four motorcycles had been recovered from him in the past.
