One accused arrested in Jodeghat case

Kerameri police in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district arrested Pendore Mohan Rao, one of the two prime accused in the Jodeghat statue burning case, who was a member of the Kumram Bheem martyrdom anniversary organising committee.

The other accused, former Boath MLA Soyam Bapu Rao, also a Raj Gond Adivasi, is absconding.

According to police, the duo along with 20 of their supporters had broken a glass case and took out the statue of a traditionally dressed Lambada woman from the tribal museum at Jodeghat on the intervening night of October 5 and 6.

All the accused have been booked under sections 448, 452, 427, 435, 506 and 153 A read with 34 IPC and section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
