Objections on socio-economic caste census invited

The government has announced the schedule for people in the district to file claims and objections with regard to the socio-economic caste census (SECC) conducted by the Central government. A draft of the results will be displayed at gram panchayats, offices of Tahsildars, grama samakhyas and in Municipalities for the benefit of people on October 10.

Collector M. Jagan Mohan, District Rural Development Agency Project Director Venkateshwar Reddy and Project Director Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas, Rathod Rajeshwar, told reporters on Thursday that grama sabhas at concerned villages need to be organised within nine days of display of the draft results. Claims and objects need to be filed within 30 days while appeals can be filed up to 60 days, they said. The appeals should be disposed off within 80 days of display of the draft and the final data on SECC would be published on December 30, this year. Special officers have been appointed at the lowest level for conduct of the exercise, the Collector said. Mr. Jagan Mohan informed that all ration cardholders, both pink and white, need to submit applications on or before October 14 seeking the new Telangana State food security card. The new cards will be issued after due personal verification by in charge officers, he added.

The Collector said students need to apply for income caste and residence certificates at respective Tahsildar offices. Certificates will be issued after verification by the concerned staff, he said.
