The National Students Union of India district unit organised a dharna here to protest against the statements of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the issue of scholarships and fee reimbursement to Andhra students.

“We strongly oppose KCR’s stand. He should immediately take back his words on the 1956 year being fixed as cut off date for deciding local status for students,” said D. Anjaiah, president of the NSUI district unit.

He questioned the rationale for KCR’s actions with regard to the students as he did not bother to think twice while appointing Maharashtra-born Sania Mirza as the ‘Brand Ambassador’ of Telangana. “Before division, KCR repeatedly said that we should be separated as brothers. But now KCR seemed to have thrown these words to winds,” said Mr. Anjaiah.

The NSUI activists also burnt an effigy of KCR to register their protest.
