‘Fever situation’ being treated with utmost priority, says Minister

Assuring that the Health Department was taking all measures to prevent spread of viral fevers in the State, Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Tuesday said the government was dealing with the seasonal outbreak with utmost priority.

During his visit to the district to review fever management measures the Minister visited the Area Hospital and the Suryapet Medical College along with Education Minister G. Jagadish Reddy and Panchayati Raj Minister E. Dayakar Rao, who was also present in the district for the State’s 30-day special drive to develop villages.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Rajender said it has been decided that no medical staff in the State would be granted leave in the next 30 days, in wake of the ‘fever situation’ in the State.

“All the staff are also instructed to build confidence in patients since all fevers are not dengue. It will be a priority to deliver best care for everyone with fevers,” he said.

Assures patients

At the hospital, Mr. Rajender along with his Cabinet colleagues went on rounds interacting with patients, encouraging them to follow a nutritious diet for speedy recovery, and assured them of best care. Meeting the first batch of students at the Suryapet Medical College in the annex, the Minister promised that the facility will have a full-fledged complex in the next two years and assured them that there was no dearth of funds.

Mr. Rajender later administered rotavirus vaccine to infants, for protection against infections leading to severe diarrhoea, before leaving for a scheduled programme in Khammam.
