Nizamabad-Peddapally rail line may be ready next year

The Nizamabad-Peddapally railway line is expected to be thrown open for passenger and goods trains from September 16 next year. Passenger trains will be run till Morthad mandal headquarters in the district from mid-March.

Disclosing the details of progress in the remaining line laying work at a distance of 28 kilometres between Armoor-Nizamabad in the 178-km long broad gauge line here on Wednesday, the SCR Divisional Railway Manager, Aruna Singh, said that the execution was going at a brisk pace.

After commissioning of the new line, the train traffic is likely to increase through this railway station, and hence the SCR is planning to bring about required infrastructure here. The second entry point, which is under construction west of the railway station, would come up in March, she said.

A multiple functional complex comprising all necessary facilities for passengers would be built at the second entry point to enable passengers to enter the station from the west side too. Buses and autorikshaws could also come there and it would have a huge parking lot for vehicles, she explained.

The foot-over-bridge would be extended, connecting the east and west entry points to the station.

The second entry point would be provided with an elevator for the benefit of physically-challenged and old persons. Water vending machines would be installed making drinking water available at Rs.3 per litre for passengers.

Ms. Aruna Singh said that the line electrification was sanctioned between Secunderabad-Mudked and the work would be completed within the next two years. Doubling work between Kachiguda and Mahaboobnagar would be launched soon, she added.

She appealed to passengers and people at large not to cross the railway track at the station and instead use the foot-over-bridge. People were losing lives while indiscriminately crossing the track when trains were moving, she said, adding that with the advancement of technology, trains were running fast unlike in the past.

Earlier, the DRM went around the station and inspected the work.
