New BJP body to be elected in Warangal

April 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - WARANGAL:

The district committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will meet on April 9 to elect the new body, said district president A. Ashok Reddy.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Mr. Reddy said elections at the village and mandal level were completed and new district body would be announced shortly. The party had its presence at every booth level, and by the next general elections, it would become stronger.

He said they would take part in B.R. Ambedkar jayanti celebrations from April 14 to 24 across the district.

In every village, the party cadre would strive to empower Dalits and explain the welfare programmes launched by the Narendra Modi government.

The Prime Minister has announced that Dalits would be encouraged to have their own start-ups and banks were directed to extend hassle-free loans to them.

Similarly, the Central government proposes to develop four memorials at four places where Mr. Ambedkar spent most of his time.

“The Congress has used Dalits as a vote bank and never bothered to fulfil their aspirations. The BJP is doing much for them, and party workers will reach out to all Dalits in the district to tell them the same,” Mr. Reddy said.

Referring to drought conditions, the BJP leader said the Centre has released over Rs. 300 crore to Telangana State, but the State government failed to take up any drought relief measures in the district so far.

Though over 40 mandals were reeling under severe drought conditions, only 11 were declared as drought-affected.

The government should immediately release special funds to the district, he said.
