Adilabad police on Sunday arrested Chunchula Bakkanna alias Shankaranna, a 38-year-old Maoist from patha Yellapur of Khanapur mandal ending the suspense of the last few days over his physical well being.
He was involved in the murder of a tribal youth Kursenga Ballar Sha at Kheriguda village in Tiryani mandal on October 30 besides the November 18 exchange of fire in the forest area under Pembi police station limits and pasting of posters in villages in his mandal.
Producing him at a media conference at Bellampalli, Adilabad Superintendent of Police Tarun Joshi, Bellampalli Additional SP Sunpreet Singh said on reliable information, the naxalite was arrested on the outskirts of Jannaram village early in the day by the Jannaram police who also recovered from him a country made 9 mm pistol and three live rounds. He confessed to the murder and the other events for which he has been booked in a case in Tiryani police station, they added.

Giving out details of the killing of Ballar Sha, Mr. Joshi said a dalam led by Maoist Adilabad Area Committee member Atram Shobhan alias Charles, Bandi Prakash alias Bandi Dada and Mylarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar, among others, had taken the victim to the open place outside the tiny village at 8 a.m. on October 30. They killed him accusing him to be a police informer and being responsible for an encounter in 1995 which was improbable given the age of Ballar Sha at that time.
