Congress Legislature Party leader K. Jana Reddy has said that the Government of Telangana should adopt the Tamil Nadu model on fixing the nativity of students to be covered under the Finance Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme.
Speaking to reporters in the CLP office on Thursday, Mr. Jana Reddy pointed out that if parents of the students were born in Tamil Nadu irrespective of year, their children would automatically get the benefits accruing to them from the government. Admitting that the Telangana government’s decision on FAST would create hardships for a majority of the students in the new State, Mr. Reddy said the Chief Minister should find a way out to expedite Eamcet counselling.
Another MLA, Bhaskara Rao from Miryalaguda constituency in Nalgonda district, lamented that students would be forced to run from pillar to post to get benefits of the FAST scheme. Revenue officials may find it difficult to issue nativity certificates as several villages were submerged during the construction of the Nagarjunasagar project.

Deputy leader in the Council Md. Ali Shabbir advised the Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to discuss and resolve the fee reimbursement issue. He faulted AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for allowing their egos to overshadow the interests of lakhs of Telugu students.
The adamant attitude of both the Chief Ministers is hurting students, who are on verge of losing their academic career.
