National cultural festival from today, entry free

Hyderabad is all set to host the cultural extravaganza — ‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM) 2022’ or the National Cultural Festival of India, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, from April 1 - 3 at the NTR stadium. Entry to the event for the general public is free on all three days.

Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu will be inaugurating the event on April 1, 5.30 p.m. and Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan will inaugurate the craft and food exhibition earlier in the day at 10 a.m. Over 1,000 artistes from different parts of the country will be showcasing the classical, folk and popular culture traditions along with displays of crafts, cuisines, coinciding with the Telugu New Year Ugadi festivities.

There will be live performances by classical music and dance maestros including Ananda Shankar Jayant, musical night by celebrated trio Shankar Mahadevan-Ehsaan-Loy, classical music performance of “Taal India’’ by Banyan Tree, followed by another musical night by famous film music director S.S. Thaman, classical dance by Jayaprabha Menon, music by celebrated duo of L. Subramaniam and Kavitha Krishnamurthy and so on during the three days.

Earlier, the event was held at Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh from March 26-27 and later at Warangal in Telangana from March 29-30, said a press release.
