It may sound strange but most legislators from Medak district, which is represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and other key politicians, have failed to utilise the Assembly Constituency Development Programme (ACDP) funds.
Notwithstanding serious problems plaguing various parts of the district, legislators have failed to show an interest in releasing funds. With the financial year coming to a close in the next four days, notable leaders, who have failed to sanction a single rupee from the Rs. 1.50 crore earmarked under the ACDP for each constituency, include Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy, Congress MLAs – J. Geetha Reddy and P. Kishta Reddy and TRS legislator M. Madan Reddy.
Another MLA Chinta Prabhakar has released a miniscule Rs. 2 lakh so far.

Patancheru TRS MLA G. Mahipal Reddy spent the entire amount sanctioned for him on nine works followed by the Chief Minister, who released Rs. 60 lakh. Dubbak legislator S. Ramalinga Reddy spent Rs. 35 lakh, Andole MLA P. Babu Mohan and Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao also spent only a fraction of the constituency development funds.
According to sources, the proposals from the Chief Minister to take up works in Gajwel constituency under this scheme came recently.
Council members seem to be doing slightly better as Congress legislators Farooq Hussian and MLC Bhoopal Reddy spent Rs. 75 lakh each while Ramulu Naik and Council Chairman K. Swamy Gound spent Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh respectively.

Medak Lok Sabha member Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, who was elected few months ago, has released Rs. 3.59 crore.
According to sources, though the government had allotted an amount of Rs 1.5 crore for each legislator and council member, it has fixed a cap of Rs. 75 lakh.
However, majority of the legislators failed to use even that amount to meet public requirements.
