MLC seats: TRS has tough choices to make

The ruling TRS party may accommodate only four persons as MLCs, but there are more than half-a-dozen aspirants within the district, posing a great challenge to the leadership.

The notification for the six MLC vacancies has already been issued and the party is yet to select its candidates. Going by the present scenario, it is obliged to accommodate Deputy Chief Minister K. Srihari, presently sitting Warangal MPUrban party president N. Narender, who was assured of suitable post later when he sought the Warangal East Assembly, is also a strong contender. District president T. Ravinder Rao and seniors like K. Rajaiah Yadav -- who are sulking for long -- also hope to make it to the Council this time. Mr. Yadav openly complained that those who joined the party cornered important posts at the cost of the seniors who have been associated with the party since separate Telangana movement.

The party leadership, according to sources, has assured MLC B. Venkateswarlu, who migrated from the TDP, of re-nominating him as MLC.

Similarly, senior member N. Sudhakar Rao of Palakurthy has been waiting for a long time for the post and reportedly is expecting the MLC post this time.

Mr. Konda Murali, who joined the party along with his wife Konda Surekha, is said to have been assured of a seat at an appropriate time.

The other aspirants include Gudimalla Ravi Kumar, Advocate JAC president, Telangana Graduates Association president M. Yadava Reddy, Parkal Assembly aspirant Nagurla Venkateswarlu and TRS Mahila president A. Lalitha Yadav.

Had the leadership decided on the nominated posts, the competition for MLC seat would have been less, opined a senior leader.
