Indian Navy is planning a unique programme, ‘Yoga Across Oceans’, to mark the International Day of Yoga on Sunday.

As part of the event, its personnel will be performing asanas across time zones — the Western Pacific Ocean in the East, the Southern Indian Ocean in the South, and the Mediterranean Sea in the West.

The naval community has been sensitised to the conduct and significance of the first International Day of Yoga through a message relayed widely to units at dispersed geographical positions in India and overseas. Indian Navy personnel on ships in deployment from the Pacific to the Mediterranean will conduct yoga sessions at the pre-decided local time of 7 a.m. such that as the sun moves across the time zones in its passage it will find personnel of the Indian Navy greeting it with their asanas across the vast geographical swath!
