‘Small Is Beautiful’, the phrase is titled of a book, ‘study of economics’-collection of essays by the German economics E.F. Schumacher in 1973 and which was a sensation those days and now it can be suitably applied to this model village in Jakranpally mandal.
Manoharabad, though is a small village inhabited by 950 residents hit the banners by securing national award while meeting all parameters in respect of implementation of several schemes. It is a crime-free, child labour-free, open defecation-free and unemployment-free village in Telangana.
The village stood number one in the State in employment generation under Employment Guarantee Scheme and collection of house taxes was 100% for the fourth consecutive year. It became a model for other villages in digging soak pits, planting saplings in Haritha Haram, cent per cent immunisation, institutional deliveries and continuous instruction in English medium at Government school for the eighth year.

For all these records the village was selected as the best one at national level. Its young sarpanch Patukuri Tirupathi Reddy received the award from the Union Panchayat Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar at Vignan Bhavan, New Delhi on Monday. Several dignitaries including the principal secretary of the department, Ranjith Singh, who graced the function commended his services on the occasion.
Mr. Tirupathi Reddy, who has received many awards and rewards such as the best sarpanch at district and top ten best sarpanches at State level, says cooperation of people and officials made all these possible. The village had become open defecation-free on November 1, 2014 with cent per cent toilets. “Our village was also selected for Mission Anthyodaya Purashkar under Swachh Bharath and also the Rajiv Gourav Gram Purashkar. We have built a beautiful bhavan for gram panchayat with all greenery and ready for inauguration,” says Mr. Tirupathi Reddy who is a graduate and feels proud to serve his people.
The EGS was effectively executed distributing ₹ 15.56 lakh to workers during 2016-17. All the 298 job card holders were given 68 days work on an average in the slack season. All the needy who got enrolled their names for the work were given it, according to Bhushan, field assistant.

For his immense contribution to the public service the Government took Mr. Tirupathi Reddy to many seminars in Jharkhand, Kerala and New Delhi.
