Former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has forecast that the Congress-led Praja Kutami, people’s alliance, is likely to secure the majority in the forthcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly slated for December 7 if the polling percentage crosses 68.
He, however, did not rule out the scope for a hung House and this would depend on the percentage of polling that will be registered on the election day. “Praja Kutami is likely to secure the majority if the polling percentage crosses 68 per cent. There is also scope for hung Assembly if there is drop in the voting percentage,” he said. Mr. Rajagopal based his forecast on the surveys conducted by the “flash teams” over a period of the past 45 days in close to 100 constituencies spread across the State.
Interestingly, poll surveys like the results of the previous elections to Telangana Assembly and bypoll in Nandyal conducted by the former MP in the past proved to be reasonably closer to the actual results. According to him, independent candidates in the fray in around 8 to 10 constituencies will emerge victorious and the BJP too was likely to improve its tally from the existing five in the elections.

The TRS was found to be leading in Medak, Warangal and Nizamabad districts while the Praja Kutami appeared strong in Khammam, Nalgonda, Adilabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Neck and neck contests were in the offing in Karimnagar and Mahbubnagar while the MIM is set to dominate the results in the Hyderabad district. The MIM is set to win all the eight constituencies in which it has fielded candidates while there is intense contest among the Congress, the BJP and the TRS in the remaining seats.
He asserted that he would release the complete details of his survey on Dec. 7 after the completion of voting.
