The brutal murder of Tahsildar Vijaya Reddy right on her office premises in Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy district on Monday exposed lack of safety for women in the State, said senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday evening, she said the incident was a grim pointer to the deteriorated law and order situation in the State.
Around 21 RTC striking employees died in despair unable to bear the “vindictive attitude” of the TRS government towards their indefinite strike for just demands since October 5, she charged. She alleged that a Panchayat Secretary Umasri of the erstwhile composite Khammam district ended her life unable to withstand “undue work-related pressures” on Monday.

The misrule of the TRS dispensation reached unbearable proportions causing agony to all sections, she charged. She accused the persons at the helm of playing with the lives of 48,000 striking RTC employees by resorting to “intimidating tactics” without heeding to the advice of the High Court to end the impasse amicably to avoid inconvenience to public. “The TRS regime will face serious consequences if it continues to adopt dictatorial policies,” she warned.
Later, she participated in a candle light demonstration organised by the Congress cadres here in protest against the killing of the Abdullapurmet Tahsildar.
