Tension prevailed since morning at Dulapur village in Jagadevpur mandal on Monday as the body of Eramaina Murali, the post-graduate student of Osmania University who committed suicide in the hostel on Sunday, was brought for last rites.
The body reached the village amid tight security at about 4.30 a.m. even before anyone woke up in the village. Soon after, all routes leading to village were cordoned off by the police . More than 100 policemen led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Narasimha Reddy and Assistant Commissioner of Police Balaji erected three check-posts on the roads leading to Daulapur.
No one was allowed to pay tributes to Murali for more than a few minutes and there were curbs on movement of people. Some Congress activists who wanted to visit the village were prevented by the police and shifted to Jagadevpur police station.

The body was brought to the house of Eramaina Mallesham, father of Murali, and kept there till afternoon. At around 2 p.m. the last rites were performed by family members and his body was buried.
District Congress Committee (DCC) president V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, along with some other leaders, was able to reach the village to pay tributes when Murali’s body was being taken to the burial ground . She entered into an argument with the police when they tried to snatch the mobile phones of some Congress workers who shot a video of the last journey. She consoled Murali’s mother Lakshmi and extended some financial assistance.
She called upon the youth not to commit suicide, stating that the Congress would provide employment once it comes to power.
