KG to PG scheme from June: Minister

The Telangana government would implement its free KG to PG education promise from the next academic year beginning June, said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari who also holds the Education portfolio.

Majority of the poor depend on government hostels, schools and colleges and the government would give top priority to strengthen them, he said addressing the mediapersons here on Sunday.

“Free and quality education is our promise and it will be delivered and the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is committed to it,” he said.

On the poor state of affairs in the universities and vacant Vice-Chancellor posts in several universities, Mr. Srihari said the government would set this right in the next two months, indicating that they would be attended to after the budget session of the Telangana Assembly. The Deputy Chief Minister said developing Warangal was also high on the agenda. The police commissionerate, Greater Municipal Corporation and Heritage City were all aimed at giving a boost to the district.
