Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that water from Godavari would be supplied for irrigation purposes in Medak district in the next three-and-a-half years.
Participating in Harita Haram programme held at various places in the constituency on Saturday and later addressing a gathering at old bus stand here, Mr. Rao said that foundation stone for irrigation project at Kaleswaram would be laid shortly, which would be lifeline for farming.
The Chief Minister also said that his wife would present golden crown to Lord Kaleswara on the occasion, which she promised to do so if statehood to Telangana is realised.

He said that about five constituencies will stand to benefit with the reservoir that would be constructed near Siddipet. He promised to sanction Rs. 5 crore fund for the constituencies which make the programme a grand success.
The Chief Minister called upon the youth and sarpanches of the villages to own up the Harita Haaram programme.
“Harita Haram is not new for the people of Siddipet. We have planted 10,000 saplings in 10 minutes in 1996,” he said.

Referring to the demands put forth by Irrigation Minister T. Harish, for railway line, irrigation water and making Siddipet a separate district headquarters along with Jangaon in Warangal and Husnabad in Karimnagar, the Chief Minister promised to meet all the three demands in a phased manner.
He said that works for railway line have already commenced, and Godavari water would be supplied for irrigation, and Siddipet would become ‘a piece of gold’ shortly with all these facilities. He said that another airport would come up shortly at Shameerpet.
Presiding over the programme, Mr. Harish Rao promised to make the programme a grand success.
Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna, Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy and others participated in the programme.
