Expressing a serious concern over the promotion of an ‘unjustified political culture’ in Telangana after its formation by the ruling TRS, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has criticized that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao diluted all the democratic institutions in his three-year governance.
He made the media, whether it was print or electronic, to surrender to him and therefore no newspaper or television channel was daring to expose his failures and undemocratic and dictatorial rule, he said while addressing a meeting of Congress workers belonging to four Assembly constituencies in the district, here on Thursday.
“I have never seen this kind of situation in the State. He (KCR) either enticed or threatened elected representatives of different political parties to defect to the TRS. Somehow, he managed the media to ensure they do not expose his failures. Thus making a mockery of democracy,” said the PCC president.

Appealing to the Congress workers to mobilize the people on a large scale to participate in the Praja Garjana to be addressed by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi at Sangareddy on June 1, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused KCR of shamelessly buying leaders of other parties reducing political values.
Harassment of farmers
Other than the TRS no government in Independent India handcuffed farmers, he said.

Modi government at the Centre and KCR in the State failed on all fronts and ignored the woes of farming community. Consequently, farmers were facing untold miseries while not getting a remunerative price for chilli, soya, redgram, turmeric and other crops. Probably, Prime Minister might have forgotten his electoral promise of implementation of M.S. Swaminathan Committee recommendations on remunerative prices to farm produce, he said.
Mr. Reddy said that in the BJP rule number of farmers ending life had increased across the country and Telangana achieved a dubious record of leading in number of suicides.
Unkept promises
BJP national president Amit Shah should have tendered an apology to the people of Telangana before entering the State as his party government fell flat in the execution of promises made to farmers, he remarked.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir presided. Former MP Suresh Shetkar, former MLA S. Ganga Ram and DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan also spoke.
