KCR kits to be distributed today

Translating the dream of achieving a Bangarau Telangana through a healthy State, ‘KCR Kits Scheme', a gift hamper to women who underwent delivery would be officially launched at the Government hospitals, at Petla Burj on Saturday.

The scheme aims at taking care of maternal nutrition, offer financial assistance to poor pregnant women, promote institutional delivery and thereby enhancing their self-esteem.

KCR Kit worth Rs. 2000, consists of 15 items useful to the mother and the child. The kit includes – a baby soap, baby oil, baby powder, two baby dresses, towels, mosquitoe net and two sarees for the mother.

A mother would receive Rs. 15, 000 for a new-born girl and Rs. 14, 000 in the case of a baby boy. The identified woman receives the amount in her bank account in four installments.

First, after receiving the mother-child protection card and a minimum of two tests, Rs. 3000 for nutrition. Second installment of Rs. 5000 (Rs. 4000 for baby boy) along with the KCR Kit, followed by Rs. 2000 and Rs. 3000 at the vaccination stages of the child.

Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Mother Mortality Rate (MMR) for Telangana State remained lower than the national average, giving the State its best figures in the country. IMR reduced to 28 per cent from 32 per cent, while MMR reduced from 92 deaths per lakh to 71 deaths per lakh in the last three years.

The scheme is applicable for two institutional deliveries.
