Karimnagar leads in ISL in State

The bifurcated Karimnagar district has emerged number one in the state and secured 20th rank in the country in the construction of record number of individual sanitary latrines (ISL) under the Swachch Bharath Mission programme.

Against a total of 1,78,581 families in the district, a total of 1,76,083 families have constructed toilets at the cost ₹48 crore. The balance two % of the families would also construct the toilets before October 2 and emerge first in the State, said Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender.

Speaking after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of 71st Independence Day celebrations at Police Parade Grounds in Karimnagar town on Tuesday, the Minister said that the government was according priority for encouraging the drip and sprinkler irrigation system to conserve the water and improve productivity.

He said that the government was taking all measures to provide drinking water tap connections to each and every household in the district by December end this year at a cost ₹ 1,492 crore.

He said that the declaration of Karimnagar city in Smart city programme would give a fillip to the promotion of tourism in the town with the proposed Manair River Front and other entertainment facilities. Karimnagar town would emerge as gateway for all the tourism and historical temple shrines in the north Telangana districts, the Minister added. Legislators V. Satish Babu, Rasamayi Balakishan, G. Kamalakar, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Telangana State Livestock Development Agency Chairman Ch. Rajeshwara Rao, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad, Commissioner of Police V. B. Kamalasan Reddy and others were present.
