Karimnagar degree colleges stare at 32,755 vacant seats

Govt. colleges also record poor enrolment at the end of DOST round 1

As many as 32,755 degree seats have remained vacant in various degree colleges in the integrated Karimnagar district after the completion of first phase of seat allotment on Tuesday in 115 degree colleges, including 17 government colleges of the Satavahana University.

Of a total of 45,930 seats, only 13,175 seats were allotted through Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST). Surprisingly, there was zero allotment in the government degree college in Choppadandi.

Barring a few colleges such as SRR Government Degree and PG College in Karimnagar, Women’s Degree and PG College in Karimnagar town, degree college in Agraharam, Jagtial, the allotment of seats was very low in other colleges.

Colleges that failed to find favour with students and witnessed poor enrolment include Raikal (5 of 190 seats), Korutla (31 of 340 seats), Mahadevpur (15 of 340 seats), Metpally (31 of 370 seats), Agraharam (45 of 440 seats), Huzurabad (22 of 440 seats), Gambhiraopeta (18 of 440 seats), Manthani (33 of 530 seats), Jammikunta (105 of 620 seats), Godavarikhani (200 of 700 seats) and Peddapalli (60 of 620 seats).

The SRR Government Degree and PG college is placed better with allotment of 1,046 seats against a total 1540 seats. Similarly, the Government Women’s Degree and PG College found 645 takers for 980 seats.

Zero admission

There was zero enrolment at the SRR Sanskrithi College in Vemulawada. About six private degree colleges also secured zero allotment of seats in the first phase of DOST and only one admission in three private degree colleges at Odela, Julapalli and Sultanabad.

Around 12 private degree colleges have secured less than 10 allotments.
