iJal water station inaugurated

As a prelude to the World Water Day celebrations on March 22, the Safe Water Network (SWN) in association with the Honeywell India inaugurated the 25th Honeywell funded iJal safe water station in Gopalraopeta village of Ramadugu mandal in Karimnagar district on Saturday.

In Gopalraopeta, a fluoride affected village in the mandal, the iJal safe water station had come in handy for people to consume safe and protected drinking water for a healthy living. Safe water network India country director Ravindra Sewak, Honeywell director Madhavi Jha, Honeywell head (CSR) Sangita Ghalay and others were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, SWN country director said that they had so far installed 110 iJal safe water stations in Telangana.

Stating that the fluoride and nitrate content is very high in Telangana, he said that the State has nitrate content of 100 ppm to 868 ppm against the national average of 45 ppm.

He said that they had set a target of opening 300 iJal safe water stations in Telangana in the next two to three years and added that they would open iJal station in Sirpur Khagaznagar of Adilabad district very soon.

The iJal station would be maintained by the local villagers and each pot of 20 litres water would be sold at Rs. 4. The technical support and maintenance would be done by SWN.
