IIT-H offers certificate course on business analytics

The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH), which has made mark in technology, is now all set to impart training in business analytics.

According to Sobhan Babu, CSE, IITH, the demand for business analytics is increasing by the day. Business analytics as a discipline has become vital in data centric world and it refers to technologies, applications and practices for exploration and investigation of past business data to gain insight and drive business planning. It makes extensive use of computer science, statistical and qualitative analysis to drive decision making.

“Reporting and querying can answer questions like how often and what happened. Business analytics can answer questions like what is the trend. In this tough global economy, sloppy decision making can get you punished. So, leading organizations are turning to business analytics to compete and thrive,” said Dr. Sobhan Babu.

The business analytics is widely used in industries like insurance, medical, credit industries, online shopping and retail industry. He says that business analytics can allow tailoring advertisement to each online customer and marketing team will have the opportunity to target most potential customer. The IITH professor said The course provides participants with the knowledge and essential skills needed to address the challenges of data intensive decision-making environments.

“Business analytics is a set of applied mathematical techniques for analysing historical data to offer insight for better decision making for industries and governments. IITs are good at applying theoretical mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems of society,” says Dr. Sobhan Babu. Course dates are April 3rd and 4th (Good Friday and Saturday), April 11th (Saturday), April 18th (Saturday), April 25th and 26th (Saturday and Sunday)
