Unlike in other Telangana districts public hearing on the Kaleshwaram project Package-22 held with the Collector N. Satyanarayana being in the chair, here on Wednesday, passed off peacefully with major stake holders, Congress and CPI(M) and other political parties unanimously said “okay” to the package.
Farmers, political leaders and representatives of people’s organizations, however, submitted as many as 107 memoranda to the Collector expressing their opinions on the construction of the package exclusively related to the parched district.
The Collector earlier inaugurating the programme said that with the said package, 1.84 lakh acres could be irrigated in 17 mandals. Water which would be drawn from Binola at the entry point in Package 20 be pumped in Manchippa-Kondem cheruvu and Bhoompally reservoir before being given to Kamareddy district, he said. He also said that the project has obsolute clearances from TS Pollution Board and from Department of Forest and Environment.

ZP chairman D. Raju opined that once the project is completed on full scale Nizam Sagar Project would get its past glory. Jukkal MLA Hanmanth Shinde said that Jukkal, Pitlam and Bichkunda mandals would have plenty of water for drinking and irrigation purposes and migration of workers to Middle East would come to an end.
Yellareddy MLA E. Ravinder Reddy said that the project would become lifeline for the district and his constituency would have sufficient water. DCMS chairman Mujeeb expressed hope that farmers would be happy with the project as one tmcf water would come every day.
