Gurgaon-based persons arrested for cheating people of Rs.10 crore

The Hyderabad police on Monday arrested three persons on charge of cheating around 500 people of Rs.10 crore on pretext of providing bank loans.

The accused - Mahipal Singh Yadav (34) managing director of My Investment Guruji Services – Gurgaon, Vimal Arora, (21) a tele-caller at the same firm and another person Shanthanu Kumar, (28) of Delhi along with two of their associates, who are absconding, set up a call centre at Gurgaon and called up people to start business by promising to provide loans up to Rs. 25 lakh, the police said.

Mahipal had earlier worked in various call centres and had set up My Investment Guruji Services employing many tele callers. The staff called up people randomly and convinced them that their company was offering loans without the need for any sureties or other conditions.

“Whenever a person expressed his interest to avail the services the staff would ask them to email different documents and after a few days sent them approval letters. Later, they asked the victims to deposit money towards various clearance fees and switched off their mobile phones,” Hyderabad Commissioner, M. Mahender Reddy said, at a press conference.

A Hyderabad-based businessman cheated by the gang in a similar manner approached the Cyber Crime Cell of the police following which the police raided a few firms in Gurgaon and arrested them. The police are also making efforts to nab Sandeep Juneja, 35, Managing Director of Value Added Cards Private Limited and Rakesh Sharma, director of My Investment Guruji Services Private Limited and S. S. Kripa Enterprises – all absconding.

The police believe that the gang cheated people across 10 states to the tune of Rs. 10 crore in last one year.
