Principal District and Sessions Judge P. Sreesudha has said that every citizen must contribute his mite for the establishment of a crime-free society.
Delivering the keynote address at an awareness camp on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Pragathi Bhavan here on Friday, she called for greater awareness of the Act, adding that victimised children need to be provided immediate assistance and assurance of a safe life.
Ms. Sreesudha said as per Supreme Court direction, a special court would come up in the district to deal with cases under the Act. She called upon all officers concerned to extend cooperation for speedy completion of investigation and delivery of justice to the victims. She also suggested to the investigating officers and prosecution to double check all documents, exhibits and witnesses before submission in the court.

Additional District Judge Goutham Prasad said it was the responsibility of lawyers and officers to generate awareness of the Act and its values and repercussions of the crime. Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao assured all help in fast investigation and disposal of cases under the Act. Coordinating with all departments concerned, the administration would ensure extension of immediate assistance to victims, he said.
Commissioner of Police Kartikeya said police officers were trained in dealing with the cases under the Act and his department would make efforts to complete investigations in a fast-paced manner. It would submit case files with foolproof investigation and perfect evidence, he added.
Achanta Mamata, founder of social service organisation Taruni, said no other country except India had such a great number of good laws and therefore people should be aware of those to seek justice.

The camp was jointly conducted by DLSA and Taruni. DLSA secretary Kiranmayi, ADJs Govardhan Reddy and Ratna Padmavathi, junior civil judges Uma Maheswari and Chandana, and Assistant Collector of Kamareddy, Naveen Pawar were among those who attended.
