Forest Minister participates in Sevalal birth anniversary celebrations

Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna on Thursday said the government was seized of the differences between Adivasis and Lambadas and the problems arising from that. He said the government is chalking out a plan to solve the problem and will soon initiate steps to sort out the issue.

Mr. Ramanna was participating as chief guest at the Sant Sevalal Maharaj 279th birth anniversary celebrations organised by the celebrations committee here. He spoke at length about the ideals for which Sevalal Maharaj stood and exhorted the Banjaras to emulate his example.

Democratic approach

Adilabad Collector D. Divya pointed out the importance of democratic approach towards issues. She opined that efforts made in a democratic way to solve problems invariably succeed.

All India Banjara Seva Sangh honorary president Amar Singh Tilawat urged the Minister and Collector to inform the government of the demand of tribals for provision of reservation in tune with the population percentage.

He said in Telangana the government should provide 9.8 % reservation to tribals which is their population percentage.

Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao presided. Earlier, the Sangh gave away a cheque for ₹ 50,000 to the mother of Rathod Jitender a youth from Hasnapur village in Utnoor mandal who had died in December last.
