Four held for ‘illegally transporting’ cows

Utnoor police on Thursday arrested four persons for allegedly transporting cows in violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The police also seized the van in which the animals were being transported from Jainoor to Bhainsa.

According to the police, Sk. Nizam, 40, Sk. Ibrahim, 45, and Md. Ghuse, 32, all residents of Bhainsa town, purchased 10 cows, including calves, at the Jainoor cattle, and were transporting them in the vehicle of Sk. Mahtab, 40, of Jainoor. A group of Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists and the Go Sanrakshana Samiti of Indervelli intercepted the vehicle at Utnoor and altered the police.
