The Machareddy police on arrested five CPI (ML)-Janashakti naxalites and recovered two tapanchas, one country made revolver and one country made pistol, 50 detonators, 16 rounds of bullets, revolutionary literature, threat letters and dairies from them. The arrested were identified as Vempati Kumar alias Ganganna, Edulakanti Linga Reddy alias Shyam Prasad Reddy, Jangalam Shankar, Chandupatla Suresh alias Suri and Akkula Raju. The police team was led by Sub-Inspector of Police G. Naresh.
Presenting them before the mediapersons, here on Friday, Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy said that on a tip-off that the naxalites were assembling in Ratnagiri forest Mr. Naresh and his team of constables rushed to the spot. On seeing them, the naxalites took to their heels. However, the police managed to nab them after some resistance. The SP said that after having lost the public sympathy due to their anti-people and anti-social activities recently, the Janashakti top leaders Koora Rajanna, his brother Koora Devender and his wife Koora Vimala alias Vimalakka brought together the former ultras and supplied arms to them to collect money threatening traders and the rich people.
The arrested naxalites belonging to Nalgonda, Karimnagar and Nizamabad formed the party district committee and used to meet from time to time to plan conspiracies in the district.

They also formed Indur Rytanga Samakhya, Vidyut Porata Committee, Stree Shakti Beedi Workers Union and PDSU (Vijrumbhana) and were trying to rope in women, students, farmers and coolies in their activities. Cases under Section 147; 148; 120B; 385; 386; 109; 149 and Section 25 and 27 of Arms Act were registered against the arrested naxalites and their leaders. Mr. Chandrashekar Reddy appealed to the traders and people to inform the police if they get any threat calls from unknown persons or in the name of naxalites.
