A Finnish national was found dead at the guest house of the ITC Limited’s Paperboards & Specialty Papers Division (PSPD) unit at Sarapaka in Burgampadu mandal on Friday morning.

The police identified the deceased as Veijo Korhonen, a process start-up specialist and trainer in paper products from Finland.

He had been staying at the guest house along with six other trainers from Finland in connection with a training programme related to a newly installed machine at the unit since June 16, sources said.

Police sources said one of the room attendants knocked on the door to clean the room at the guest house on Friday morning.

When he did not get any response from Mr. Veijo Korhonen despite repeated knocks, he immediately alerted the staff concerned who passed on the information to the police.

The local police broke open the door and found Mr. Veijo Korhonen lying dead on the bed.

Sources said Mr. Veijo Korhonen was indisposed and confined to his room due to indigestion since Thursday evening.

Police suspect that he might have suffered cardiac arrest and died in his sleep late on Thursday night.

The police have sent the body for autopsy to determine the exact cause of his death.

The Burgampadu police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation under the supervision of Palvancha Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivasulu.
