Entry to Mysuru palace restricted on May 27, 28

Entry to the Amba Vilas Palace will be restricted to visitors from May 26 to 28 on account of the coronation of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the new heir of the Wadiyar dynasty.

He was adopted by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar in February this year following the death of her husband Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar in December 2013.

The private ceremonies and rituals related to the coronation will be spread over three days and entry to tourists will be regulated.

On May 26, entry will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. after which tourists will not be admitted to the monument. There will be complete restriction on May 27 and 28 on account of the coronation and related events in which the royal sword and the royal seal will be handed over to Mr. Yaduveer.

Consequent to his coronation, the customary ascending of the golden throne and the practice of conducting the private durbar during Dasara may be revived. The last coronation was that of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar in 1974 following the death of the last maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar.

All the major events of the Wadiyars, including the coronation, weddings, and Dasara-related rituals, have been held in the Kalyana Mantapa of the Amba Vilas Palace.
