‘Energy demand will be met effectively in future’

Minister lays foundation stone for a sub-station at Tekulapalli

Power transmission and distribution (T&D) infrastructure in Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts is being strengthened in tune with the capacity augmentation plans to meet the burgeoning demand for power with a futuristic perspective, said Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Nageswara Rao.

Mr. Rao, along with Minister for Energy G. Jagadish Reddy, laid the foundation stone for a 220/132 KV sub-station at Tekulapalli in Penuballi mandal and a 33/11 KV sub-station in Sattupalli town in Khammam district on Sunday.

Speaking at a meeting held at Tekulapalli, Mr. Rao said the existing T&D infrastructure was being upgraded and expanded in a mission mode to augment the power transmission network before the completion of the upcoming KTPS’s Stage VII (1x800 MW) and the 1080 MW Bhadradri Thermal Power Station at Manuguru in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.

Energy needs of the State were being met effectively by optimally harnessing the existing power generation potential of the power plants in the State, accessing solar power and drawing power from Chhattisgarh, he said. Mr. Jagadish Reddy said the government has accorded highest priority to serve the interests of farmers across the State.

Listing out the measures initiated by the TRS government to strengthen the energy and agriculture sectors, he said assured power was being provided to the agriculture sector in the day time. The TRS government was determined to provide 24-hour power supply to the farm sector in the near future, he asserted.

Zilla Parishad chairperson G. Kavitha, Telangana SC Corporation Chairman P. Ravi and others were present. Later, the Ministers inaugurated 20 two-bedroom houses constructed under the double-bedroom housing scheme at Gandugulapalli in Dammapeta mandal in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.

Bhadradri-Kothagudem district Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanmanthu and others were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The Ministers also visited the upcoming oil palm factory at Apparaopeta in the same mandal in the evening.
