Unveiling a host of new measures for the safety of women, the Cyberabad police on Tuesday announced the creation of a Crime Against Women (CAW) cell in their office at Gachibowli.

The cell will operate from the second floor of the commissionerate building, said Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand at a press conference. Counselling of persons caught for sexually harassing women at public places and progress of cases registered by SHE teams would be monitored by this cell.

Fingerprints and personal data of the persons involved in such offences would be collected and records of their weekly attendance before the police officials concerned would be maintained. A separate Facebook page was launched for SHE teams of Cyberabad.

SHE teams will paste posters containing their numbers and other details in autorickshaws, cabs and RTC buses along with distribution of pamphlets in educational institutions. Short films of 60 seconds to 90 seconds duration on sexual harassment at public places and stalking are being prepared.

All 43 law and order police stations of Cyberabad will have Women Help Desks with woman constables attending to complaints of crimes against women. They would conduct preliminary inquiries and refer the complaints to the Station House Officer for action.
