The CPI (M) Telangana unit asked the Government to convene an all party meeting to resolve the fee reimbursement issue. It objected to the cut of year of 1956 mooted by the TRS government for deciding the nativity of the students.
If this principle was to be followed then some areas of Telangana such as Bhadrachalam and Munagala in Nalgonda district would not be eligible for the benefit, said CPI (M) Telangana secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram.
He told presspersons here on Wednesday that the Government’s decision to reimburse fee only to Telangana students was welcome but a proper method should be evolved about deciding the nativity. He faulted the GHMC move to levy heavy penalty on houses not having occupancy certificates. There were lakhs of such houses and the Corporation had woken up only now. It ought to first serve notice and give time to people. Similarly, the crackdown on unauthorised constructions was welcome but the interest of poor living there should be protected, Mr. Veerabhadram said.

He also supported the government’s decision to weed out bogus ration cards. But past experience showed that in the name of bogus cards many genuine ration cardholders were victimised. He asked the Government not to remove the contract and outsourced employees, but instead regularise their services.
Making an assessment of the TRS government performance during the last one month, Mr. Veerabhadram said the government was making lot of pro-people statements but this was not backed by concrete plans. In the matter of crop loan waiver and Dalit housing, no GO was issued yet though the government was talking a lot. He accused the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh of whipping up passions of the people on issues such as power and water-sharing. Both the Chief Ministers ought to sit down and sort out the issues instead of adopting confrontationist attitude, Mr. Veerabhadram said.
