COWE to adopt two villages as part of ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign

The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) has decided to adopt one village each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for undertaking the implementation of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’.

Cleanliness and sanitation of the two villages would be taken care of by the women entrepreneurs’ body. The announcement was made at the inaugural session of the two-day Women’s International Summit for Entrepreneurship (WISE), here on Saturday.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha said that women were special to society. They need special care, education, security and healthcare as they are required to do special things for the society, she stated.

“Women are entrepreneurs by birth as they learn to manage their family and the society. When they take up any business activity, they take care of it as they do with their children and think about their workers’ welfare too besides their own,” Ms. Sinha said highlighting the significance of women in society. Stating that women could make excellent entrepreneurs, she noted that a woman could do wonders with the cooperation of her father, husband or brother.

President of COWE, P. Sodhamini, stated that they had entered into a memorandum of understanding with a Japan firm ‘e-clean’ to provide training in the paramedical field to women. Telangana Minister for Transport P. Mahender Reddy, COWE vice president Girija Reddy and others spoke.
